Immediate Release: September 25, 2004 Contact: David O'Brian (dobrian@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-6478 Cross Country teams compete at Lehigh Paul Short Run Women's Results Men's Results VESTAL, N.Y.--Juniors Erica Angell (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) continued her superb start to the 2004 cross country season, placing 20th out of 175 runners in the prestigious Lehigh Paul Short Run. She helped lead the Binghamton women's squad to a 12th-place finish out of 26 competing teams. The men's finished 23rd out of 24 teams. Until this weekend, the highest that any Binghamton runner had finished at the Paul Short Run was 47th (Lindsey Bohrer-Yardley in 2003). Angell's time of 21:29 for the 5,000 meter course was also the fastest time that a Binghamton women's runner has recorded at the meet by 54 seconds (Lindsey Bohrer Yardley had a time of 22:23 last year). Junior Stacy Kramer (Loudonville, N.Y.) also had an impressive meet, finishing 39th in a time of 21:58. Senior Lindsey Bohrer-Yardley (Oneida, N.Y.) , who has been the Bearcats' top runner the previous two years, was 67th (22:28). Still, she was just five seconds off her personal-best time on the course. Junior Kathryn Murnane (Rockville Center, N.Y.) was 88th (22:49) and junior and Allison Furey (Smyrna, N.Y.) was 107th (23:17). Junior Prahlad Genung (Afton, N.Y.) was the men's top finisher, placing 113th with a time of 26:29 for the 8,000 meter course. |
