Immediate Release: April 27, 2006 Contact: Thomas Moore II (sports@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-2956 Binghamton women's swimming & diving program inks high school standout VESTAL, N.Y.--The Binghamton women's swimming & diving program has announced the signing of Allyce Brand (Highland Park, Ill.), a high school senior who has returned a National Letter of Intent. She will begin her freshman season with the Bearcats this fall. Brand is a four-year All-Conference short distance swimmer for Highland Park High School. She is an accomplished swimmer qualifying for the Speedo Sectional and holding school records in the 100 breast, 200 medley relay and 200 free relay. This past season Brand was named her team captain and MVP. "We are very excited to sign Allyce for next season as she will make a strong impact in the sprint freestyle and breastroke events," head coach Patrice Back said. "She is an accomplished swimmer who will add speed to our relays and versatility to our lineup. Allyce is part of a strong incoming freshman class that will improve our depth and increase our scoring chances at the America East Conference Championships." |
