Immediate Release: September 10, 2006 VESTAL,
N.Y. - BU sister duo Betsy and Mackenzie Harris (Chappaqua, N.Y.) combined
for a goal and two assists leading Binghamton past visiting Wagner
4-0 in a non-conference women's soccer game Sunday afternoon
from West Gym Field. The Bearcats' triumph improves their record
to 1-3-2, while the Seahawks remain winless at 0-4-0. "Obviously,
it is a good feeling anytime you can get this kind of result,"
head coach Jeff Leightman said. "It was a bit of an ugly
game. I was a bit disappointed with our play in the first half,
but I thought we came out sharper and more confident after the
break and were able to impose our will a bit. That being said,
there is still a lot of room for improvement to prepare for conference
play." Between the pipes, senior keepers Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y.) and Kristy Doerner (Shoreham, N.Y.) combined on the shutout, while their Seahawks counterpart Ashley Wilson turned away four BU efforts in a losing effort. Binghamton outshot Wagner 12-2 on the afternoon. The Bearcats are back in action Friday afternoon when they host Fairleigh Dickinson at 4 p.m. |
