BU women's soccer ties Syracuse 1-1 in overtime

VESTAL, N.Y. - Junior forward Kim Povill (Massapequa, N.Y.) drilled a 30-yard blast to the top left corner with 2:06 remaining in regulation to give Binghamton women's soccer a 1-1 draw with visiting Syracuse (0-3-1). The Bearcats (0-3-2) seemed on the verge of a fourth straight defeat before Povill took a pass from senior forward Danielle White (Haddon Township, N.J.) and struck it clean.

"It was a good, hard battle and probably a fair result," head coach Jeff Leightman said. "They outplayed us for stretches, which accounted for the shot difference, and then I thought we came on in the second half and overtimes. But I'm disappointed that after five games we still don't have our first win. We've got to fix the mistakes that are costing us goals."

Syracuse netted their goal with just 11 seconds remaining in the first half when freshman midfielder Danielle Jordan cut through an opening in BU's defense, took a pass from sophomore linemate Samantha Hahn and found the net from eight yards out.

Syracuse outshot Binghamton 23-11.

Senior keeper Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y.) recorded 14 saves.

The Bearcats host Wagner at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
