JAMAICA, N.Y.--Dominica Reina and Kaitlin Schmidt each netted a goal late in the second half, leading St. John's (2-0-2) to a 2-0 win over visiting Binghamton (2-2-1) in women's soccer action on Wednesday night. The loss was the Bearcats' second straight setback. "We struggled all night with finding our offensive rhythm," said head coach Jeff Leightman. "St. John's is a good team and they played a little better than we did. It was a back-and-fourth game but we've got to give them credit." Playing without two starters (Tatiana Mathelier and Tracey Anderson), both of whom were injured in Sunday's game against Syracuse, Binghamton hung tough and after 70 minutes, the game was still scoreless. It at the 73:43 mark, however, that Reina took got the rebound off a deflected shot and fired it into the net. At the 85:50 mark, the Red Storm sealed the game on Schmidt's goal. Binghamton is off until Sept. 20 when it hosts Fairleigh Dickinson at 4 p.m. |
