Dating back to 2002, it marked the first time in three attempts that the Bearcats have defeated the Black Bears. "Today was a great soccer game between two good conference teams," head coach Jeff Leightman said. "We haven't been able to pull out a road win like this since we joined the America East so we really needed the three points today." After a scoreless first half, Plourde took a pass from freshman forward Kim Povill (Massapequa, N.Y.) and blasted it into the upper right corner of the net at the 46:09 mark. It was Povill's team-high sixth assist and 14th point of the season. Binghamton was outshot 11-7 but sophomore goalkeeper Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y.) recorded two saves to post her second solo shutout of the season. Binghamton travels to UMBC on Friday at 4 p.m. for another conference game. |
