Immediate Release: September 17, 2006 BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Host Long Island University (3-5) scored the game's lone goal in the 62nd minute to edge Binghamton (2-4-2) 1-0 Sunday afternoon. The win extended LIU's home unbeaten streak to 20 games (19-0-1). Tasia Davis scored on a header off an assist from Christina O'Connor. The Blackbirds outshot BU 12-8. Senior keeper Kristie Bowers (Rochester, N.Y.) made five saves. "They brought a level of energy that we didn't match and that was the difference in the game," head coach Jeff Leightman said. "They dominated the first half. We weren't competing for balls and they wanted to win more than us. I thought we picked it up in the second half and started to battle and dictate play. We were pressing but then they got a goal on a counter attack. We ran out of gas midway through the second half." The Bearcats host Canisius on Thursday. |
