Binghamton hires Danielle La Roche as assistant women's soccer coach

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton women's soccer program has hired Danielle La Roche as its new assistant women's soccer coach. She replaces Amanda Fox, who was the assistant coach the previous three seasons.

For the past four years, La Roche has been the academy director for the One Touch Soccer Academy, which is based in the Washington D.C. area. One Touch is dedicated to training both soccer players and coaches of all age groups and La Roche has headed up the staff of over 20 workers.

Before coming to One Touch, La Roche was the lead assistant coach at Howard University for three seasons (1997-99). The Bison fielded a fledgling program in 1997 and La Roche was involved with both the on-field coaching and recruiting aspects of the team during her three-year tenure.

La Roche earned her undergraduate degree in African-American Studies from the University of Maryland in 1995. While at College Park, she played right back for three seasons with the women's soccer team under current U.S. Olympic coach April Heinrichs.

"We are really happy to have Danielle here," head coach Jeff Leightman said. "She brings maturity, leadership and experience to our team."

"I'm really excited about coming to Binghamton,"La Roche said. "I hope to help the team become more competitve in the America East Conference."
