Soccer The Bearcats (2-1) built a 36-0 command in shots against Iona, and received back-to-back goals from sophomore forward Tracy Kasmarcik (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) to open the game. Kasmarcik scored on a breakaway 10:39 into the contest, and converted another 1-on-1 effort 13 minutes later. Kasmarcik, who led BU with 12 goals in 2000, raised her 2001 total to four. In the second half, sophomore midfielder Danielle Kosecki (Syracuse/Solvay) took a feed from Plourde and beat the keeper on a breakaway, and junior forward Mary Fazio (East Northport/John Glenn) closed out the scoring in the 72nd minute. In the second game of the afternoon, Western Michigan (1-2) broke open an evenly-played first half with an unassisted tally from sophomore back Abi Morrell (Plymouth, Mich./Canton), whose 18-yard volley sailed over the keepers head for a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute. Less than five minutes before the half, the Broncos made it 2-0 when junior back Jennifer Leone (Fraser, Mich.) tapped in a loose ball at close range. Two goals in a five-minute span early in the second half sealed the win. Junior forward Kersten Conklin (Livonia, Mich./Churchill) collected a goal and two assists. Senior keeper Megan Ramey (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) recorded six saves in 69:22 for the Broncos. Sophomore Marjie Fleshman (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) notched two saves in the final 20:38.
