SOCCER Top-seeded Georgetown ends BU's season Bearcats fall 4-3 in ECAC semifinals At the four-team ECAC Division I Championship hosted by Columbia, BU saw its season come to an end against the top-seeded Hoyas. The loss snapped the Bearcats 10-game unbeaten string the second-longest in program history. Trailing 3-2 with just over 11 minutes remaining in the game, BU forged a tie when senior forward Merri Montenare (Shoreham/Shoreham-Wading River) deflected a cross from sophomore linemate Tracy Kasmarcik (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) past the keeper. Less than four minutes later, however, Georgetown scored the game-winner. Kasmarcik scored her 15th goal of the season, and freshman forward Tatiana Mathelier (Pomona/Saddle River Day, N.J.) notched her ninth goal. Senior forward Sarah Young (Hopewell Junction/John Jay), playing in her final collegiate game, drew an assist on Kasmarciks goal, giving her a school-record 32 assists. Georgetown outshot BU, 15-10. The game was tied 1-1 at the half. |
