Binghamton
defeats Albany 4-2, improves to 9-3-1

VESTAL,
N.Y.-- Binghamton (9-3-1, 3-1-0 AE) went on a three-goal outburst
in the first half and held on to defeat visiting Albany (2-13-0,
0-4-0 AE) 4-2 in an America East Conference women's soccer game
on Friday afternoon at a rainy West Gym Field. The victory marked
the third consecutive conference win for the Bearcats.
Binghamton came out strong in the first half and led 3-0 at the
break. Senior midfielder Caitlin
O'Shaugnessy
(Stony
Point, N.Y.) got things going with her fourth goal of the season
at 17:52. Exactly five minutes later, freshman defender Katie
Kerrigan (Middletown, N.Y.) netted her first career goal
to make the score 2-0. With 1:02 left before the half, sophomore
forward Danielle
White (Haddon Township, N.J.) scored her third goal of
the year to make it 3-0.
The Great Danes wouldn't give up as freshman midfielder Elena
Maccou got a rebound that hit the crossbar and fired it home
at 59:46. The Bearcats, however, answered back on a goal by senior
forward Tatiana
Mathelier (Ponoma, N.Y.) at 67:23 that stretched the
lead to 4-1. Although Albany got goal from freshman back Morgan
Warwick at 80:12, they were held scoreless the rest of the way.
Binghamton
outshot Albany 30-8.
The
Bearcats host Stony Brook on Sunday at noon.
