Immediate Release: March 3, 2004 The pair join Long Island standout Kim Povill as Leightman's marquee signees this winter. "We're happy Maria and Trish have decided to come to Bighamton," Leightman said. "They have made a great choice, academically and athletically, and both will be great additions to our program. They are impact players who have very bright futures as collegiate athletes." Krug, a 5-foot-3 midfielder, was a two-time all-state selection for Norwich High. She served as captain her senior season, and also was a member of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) for five years. "Maria is very quick, and can drive the ball with either foot," Leightman said. "She gives us a great personality and attack from the left flank." Reed is a 5-11 forward and four-time all-league honoree for Oswego High. She twice earned All-Central New York status, and last fall was chosen for the all-state team after guiding her team to a sectional championship. A four year starter, Reed accumulated 51 career goals and 21 career assists. "Trish gives us a dimension we haven't had in the last few years - a true target player up front," Leightman said. "She is a very technical, very smart player." |
