VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton wrestling returns to the mats this winter and the University has made sure its athletes train in high quality facilities with upgrades totalling nearly $100,000. The new practice room, located in the northeastern corner of the West Gym, is a newly renovated area approximately 65 feet by 45 feet with a 20-foot high ceiling. It features brand new wrestling mats, padded walls, four climbing ropes and 21 chin-up stations. In addition, there is an adjoining room for cardio workouts that is approximately 16 feet by 24 feet. That room has been equipped with treadmills, stationary bicycles and other cardio machines. "The room is great," head coach Tony Robie said. "It allows us to do the things from a training standpoint that we need to do to get on the map as a Division I program. Everyone that's been on campus has been impressed with the new facility and it will go a long way to help us bring quality student-athletes here." The room also features a sound system and audio/visual equipment. In addition to the workout room, improvements were made to the team locker room and West Gym athletic training facility. |
