For
Immediate Release: September 14, 2006 VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton University wrestling has added a second assistant coach in Sean Gibbs, the school announced Thursday. Gibbs joins Dennis Papadatos on first year head coach Pat Popolizio's staff. Gibbs
comes directly from University of Buffalo, where he was an assistant
on the Bulls' staff for eight years. As recruiting coordinator,
he was instrumental in Buffalo's rise to a perennial Top 25 program.
He received the university's "Stars Award" for outstanding
achievement as a recruiter and coach and signed numerous Top
100 recruits. Gibbs was a captain, team MVP and two-time NCAA qualifier at University of Pittsburgh, where he won 93 career matches. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology in 1993. In addition to his experience at Buffalo, Gibbs served as head coach for the NWCA/USA Wrestling All-American Tour in 2001. That team of collegiate All-Americans competed internationally in Bulgaria and France. He also served as head coach of the New York Super Six - the largest freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling club in Western New York. Gibbs
was an Espoir All-American in 1990 and is a member of the Stark
County (Ohio) Wrestling Hall of Fame. |
