Immediate Release: April 20, 2004 Contact: David O'Brian (dobrian@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-6478 Women's lacrosse defeats St. Francis (Pa.) 19-3 Box Score VESTAL, N.Y.--Freshman attack Becky Green (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland) netted a game-high four goals and dished out three assists, leading Binghamton (4-7) to a record-setting 19-3 win over St. Francis of Pennsylvania (0-10) in a non-conference women's lacrosse game on Tuesday afternoon at the East Gym Complex. The 19 goals is a school record, eclipsing the 16 goals scored against Siena on March 21 of this season. The 16 goals difference also represents the largest margin of victory in school history. The Bearcats scored eight unanswered goals in the final 16:13 of the first half to take a 12-2 lead at the half. With the clock running throughout the second half (due to the 10-goal differential rule), Binghamton still managed to go on a 7-1 spurt to end the game. Sophomore center Lauren Wetherell (Bethpage, N.Y.) and freshman attack Heather Grose (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) each added three goals. Freshman midfielder Anna Riordan (Yorktown Heights) netted two goals and seven different Bearcats each had one goal. Grosse also recorded three assists. Senior goalie Christa Quon (Vestal, N.Y.) and sophomore goalie Chelsea Winslow (Auburn, N.Y.) combined to make three saves. The Bearcats travel to New Hampshire on Friday for a 3:30 p.m. game. |
