Immediate Release: April 12, 2006 Contact: Thomas Moore II (sports@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-2956 Binghamton women's lacrosse defeated by No. 11 Boston Univ. 20-2 Box score Photos VESTAL, N.Y.--Boston University senior Mary Beth Miller and sophomore Jenny Hauser each had a game-high seven points leading No. 11 Boston Univ. (9-3, 2-1 AE) to a 20-2 win over host Binghamton (4-9, 0-3 AE) in an America East women's lacrosse game at East Gym Complex Wednesday afternoon. The Terriers opened the game scoring the first 16 goals, including 12 in the first half. In the second half, junior midfielder Lauren Wetherell (Bethpage, N.Y.) scored the Bearcats first goal. Freshman attack Julia Demuth (Jordan, N.Y.) scored the second Bearcat goal, Wetherell was credited with the assist. Boston Univ. owned the shooting edge 39-6. The Terriers won the 15 of the 24 draw controls and dug up 33 of the 54 ground balls. "I think we didn't give up," head coach Emily Edmonston "Boston (University) is a top-15 ranked team and that says a lot to how good they are. I wish we had held the ball a little more." Miller's seven points were all on assists, while Hauser scored six goals and had one helper. Binghamton travels to New Hampshire for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday. |
