Immediate Release: February 15, 2006 Binghamton picked seventh in America East preseason poll BOSTON, Mass.-- Defending America East champion Boston University is the unanimous preseason favorite to repeat as the women's lacrosse conference champion this year, according to a vote of the women's lacrosse head coaches. The Terriers received all seven first-place votes for a total of 49 points, topping 2005 America East Championship runner-up New Hampshire (38), which was tabbed to finish second. Binghamton received a total of eleven points and was selected to finish seventh. The top four teams during the regular season will qualify for the America East Conference Tournament with the winner earning an automatic berth in the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship. The tournament will be hosted at the highest seed and will run May 5-7. The Bearcats return 9 starters and are bolstered by the addition of a talented group of newcomers as they celebrate the fifth season of intercollegiate women's lacrosse. Binghamton opens the 2006 campaign on February 28, at Bucknell University. |
