Villanova, BU was defeated 30-14, 30-23, 30-12. The Bearcats
surrendered 54 kills and struggled on their offensive side, combining
21 kills with 21 errors. Senior hitter Michele
Heck (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) collected seven kills
and classmate Jen Smith
(North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) added five
kills. Sophomore setter Ashley
Meffert (Louisville, Ky./Fern Creek) recorded 14 assists
and 12 digs. "We played a very spirited match," head coach Glenn Kiriyama said of the VCU contest. "We really played well in all facets of the game. We covered the court really well and Anne was unstoppable at the net." Binghamton will next compete in the George Washington Invitational on Friday and Saturday. |
