Binghamton (17-14, 7-5 AE) swept Stony Brook (13-15, 5-7 AE) 3-0 in an America East volleyball match Saturday night at West Gym. The game scores were 30-23, 31-29, 30-20. "Winning this match was a great for the team, and a bonus to do it on senior night," head coach Glenn Kiriyama said. "I thought we started on a high note and kept it up throughout the match. We played some great defense tonight, our outside hitter did great tonight. I thought everyone came to play tonight. We want to finish strong and fight Maine for the number three seed." In game two, with the Seawolves up 29-27, trying to close out the game the Bearcats took a four point swing to win the second game. This deflated Stony Brook's spirt which carried into the third game, allowing Binghamton to have six aces within the first 11 points scored by the Bearcats. Seniors outside hitter Michele Heck (Chicago, Ill.) had 13 kills and nine digs and right side hitter Jen Smith (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) had 12 kills and eight digs. Sophomore setter Ashley Meffert (Louisville, Ky.) added 44 assists and six digs. Freshmen middle blocker Jacki Kane (Centennial, Colo.) stepped up contributng 13 kills while hitting .579.
