Binghamton volleyball adds Lammert
Wisconsin
native will join Bearcats program this fall
VESTAL,
N.Y.- The Binghamton University volleyball program has announced
the signing of Dawn Lammert (Sussex, WI) to a National Letter
of Intent. Lammert, a middle hitter from Arrowhead High School,
will join the reigning conference champion Bearcats this fall.
A two-sport standout, Lammert was a two-year varsity letterwinner
in volleyball and a three-year letterwinner in track and field,
where she was a state qualifier and regional champion in the
high jump.
The Wisconsin native has also played with the highly regarded
Milwaukee Sting club squad. The region's top women's junior program,
the Sting club has seen over 50 alumni go on to play at the Division-I
level in the last five years alone.
"Dawn is a welcome addition to our team," said head
coach Glenn Kiriyama. "She has the size (6'2) to be a pretty
good blocker and we expect she will make an immediate impact."
Outside the athletic arena, Lammert is a model of student-athlete
success. She graduated first in her class with a perfect 4.0
grade-point average and is set to begin partcipation in the Binghamton
Scholars Program this August.
Coach Kiriyama
and the Bearcat women are coming off a record-setting 2005 campaign
in which they amassed a program-best 20 victories, captured their
first conference championship and earned the program's first
ever bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The program's sixth season of competition at the Division-I level
begins August 25-26 at the sixth-annual Rocket Classic in Ohio. |
