volleyball blanks Holy Cross 3-0 in first match at Crusader Classic

WORCESTER,
Mass. - In its opening match at the Crusader Classic, the Binghamton
volleyball team (2-0) swept host Holy Cross (0-1) 3-0 Friday
at the Hart Center. The Bearcats won by scores of 30-22, 30-14,
30-21.
Junior middle blocker Megan Hoag (Brunswick, Ohio) led Binghamton
with 10 kills and 11 digs for her second double-double of the
season, she also had a .421 hitting percentage. Junior outside
hitter Katie Robertson (Ancaster, Ontario) contributed with 5
kills and 10 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Kathleen Schauer
(Littleton, Colo.) had 9 digs. Sophomore middle blocker Jacki
Kane (Centennial, Colo.) contributed with 9 kills and 5 blocks
and had a team high .438 hitting percentage.
"The match tonight was pretty solid," head coach Glenn
Kiriyama said. "We did a very good job blocking, especially
the girls in the middle. Overall everyone played hard it was
a good win. Tomorrow will be tougher day for us."
Junior setter Ashley Meffert (Louisville, Ky.) split her setting
time with freshman setter Ashley Allen (Mill Creek, Wash.) they
had 19 and 12 assists, respectively.
Binghamton faces Siena at 10 a.m. and St. John's at 4 p.m. in
day two of the Crusader Classic on Saturday. |
