Crocus named America East Conference Volleyball Player of the Week

BUFFALO, N.Y.--Senior middle blocker Anne Crocus (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) has been named the America East Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 13-19. It marks the second time this season and the third time in her career that she has earned the award.

This past weekend at the George Washington Invitational, Crocus averaged 4.23 kills and 1.61 blocks per game in leading the Bearcats to a second-place finish. She nailed a career-high 26 kills in the Bearcats’ five-game win over Akron on Friday night.

"Anne was tough to stop this weekend," heac coach Glenn Kiriyama said. "At times our opponents had a hard time just getting hands on her hits."

The George Washington Invitational marked the third weekend in a row that Crocus has been the Bearcats’ representative on an all-tournament team. She also got the nod at the Western New York Tournament and the Villanova Wildcat Classic.

Currently, Crocus leads the conference with 4.18 kills per game, 1.59 blocks per game and a .345 attack percentage.

She was also the America East Conference Player of the Week for Sept. 29-Oct. 5, 2003 and Aug. 31-Sept. 6 of this season.

Binghamton (5-6) travels to Syracuse on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match.
