The Bearcats lost 4-0 to Wagner (10-8) in the first game and 8-5 to Rhode Island (5-7) in the finale. "We would like to have finished the week on a better note but we gelled as a team down here," head coach Holly Brown said. "Our junior transfers had a good last couple of games and we are looking forward to returning home." In the opener, Morgan Miller of Wagner tossed a four-hit shutout, striking out four batters in the process. Although Binghamton starting pitcher Katie Hansen (Westtown, N.Y.) surrendered only two hits, the Bearcats committed four errors which led to all four runs (which were unearned). Sophomore third baseman Devin Glezen (Hallstead, Pa.) was the offensive leader against Rhode Island, going 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI. In the bottom of the first inning, with the Bearcats down 3-0, she drilled a one-out, three-run triple to tie the game. She scored the go-ahead run on a ground out one batter later. Rhode Island stormed back and was up 8-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Binghamton wouldn't go quietly, however, starting a two-out rally. Glezen got things started with a single and scored two batters later on a single by junior catcher Mia Bieman (Wingham, Ontario). The Bearcats had the tying run at the plate when the game ended. Bieman went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI against Rhode Island. Binghamton is scheduled to return home for a doubleheader on Wednesday against Army at 2 p.m. |
