The Jaspers won both games in the bottom of the seventh inning, 4-3 and 2-1. The sweep overshadowed the performance of sophomore catcher sophomore catcher Devin Glezen (Hallstead, Pa.), who hit a pair of home runs and has now gone deep in three consecutive games. "It's nice to see Devin's bat coming alive," head coach Holly Brown said. "We played well in both games but it was tough to lose like we did." With Binghamton trailing 3-1 in the top of the seventh inning, Glezen belted a two-out, two-run home run to left-center field to deadlock the game. The Jaspers, however, got a two-out RBI single by freshman second baseman Lyndzie Phillips in their ensuing at bat to win the game. Down 1-0 in the top of the third inning, the Bearcats again got a game-tying home run from Glezen, this time to deep left field. Four scoreless innings followed until senior shortstop Kiera Fox singled home the winning run with no out in the bottom of the seventh inning. Binghamton heads to Albany for its first America East Conference series of the year next week. The Bearcats and Great Danes will play a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. and a single game Sunday at 1 p.m. |
