VESTAL, N.Y.--For the second time in as many days, Binghamton (16-17, 6-8 AE) dropped a doubleheader to conference-leading Boston (23-19, 15-1 AE) in an America East Conference doubleheader on Monday. The Bearcats lost the opener 4-2 as well as the nightcap 3-2.

Binghamton sophomore pitcher Michelle Weeks (Bunnell, Fla./ Flagler Palm Coast) got off to a sizzling start, striking out the first nine batters she faced. She would wind up with 13 for the game. The Terriers, however, got on the board in the top of the fourth inning when junior outfielder Abbey Pauley reached on an infield bunt and would later score on a fielder's choice.

The Bearcats appeared to take control of the first game in the bottom of the sixth inning when senior third baseman Jen Richardson (Wellsville, N.Y.) doubled home sophomore designated hitter Marisa DeStasio (Bethlehem, Pa./ Freedom). Richardson would later score from third base while the Terriers were attempting to pick off junior outfielder Jessica Dima (Staten Island, N.Y./ Port Richmond), who was on first base at the time.

Up 2-1 in the top of the seventh, the Bearcats saw things unravel when the Terriers scored three unearned runs to go up 4-2. Sophomore pitcher Julie Henneke started off the inning with a bunt and wound up reaching third base courtesy of two Bearcat miscues. She would later score on a fielder's choice to tie the game. Boston then went ahead for good on a RBI single by freshman third baseman Josey Mendez followed by a RBI double by senior pitcher Tiffany Finateri.

In the nightcap, Pauley scored on a sacrifice fly in the first inning and Mendez had a RBI double in the second inning as Boston jumped out to a quick 2-0 advantage. Henneke then scored on an error in the fifth inning to stretch the lead to 3-0.

Binghamton wouldn't go quietly, coming up with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Sophomore second baseman Marybeth Yerdon (Lacona, N.Y./ Sandy Creek) drilled a two-run double to left field to trim the deficit to 3-2. The Bearcats had runners at second and third with two outs, but were unable to score again.
