With the victory, the Terriers take the weekend series two games to one. The Bearcats got a quick 2-0 lead when freshman outfielder Sandy Meadows (Huachua City, Ariz.) and junior catcher Christine Quijano (Syracuse, N.Y.) each drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the first inning. Boston, however, came right back with five runs in the bottom of the inning. Hudson singled home a pair of runs while Benson also produced an RBI single. Junior catcher Mia Bieman (Wingham, Ontario) drilled a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning, trimming the deficit to 5-4. In the bottom of the inning, however, freshman shortstop Melissa Dubay led off with a home run and Benson posted another RBI single bumping the Terriers' lead back up to three runs. The Bearcats went down in order in the top of the seventh inning. "We needed to execute a little better offensively today," head coach Holly Brown said. "We left the bases loaded once (in the top of the first inning) and needed to capitalize on that (opportunity)." Binghamton heads to UMBC for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday. |
