Immediate Release: March 23, 2004 Contact: David O'Brian (dobrian@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-6478 Barre named America East Conference Softball Player of the Week Sophomore shortstop Rose Barre (Watertown, N.Y./ General Brown), has been named the America East Conference Player of the Week for March 14-20. It marks the first time in her career that she has earned the honor. Barre was named to the all-tournament team at the James Madison Dukes Invitational this past weekend and was the Most Outstanding Defensive Player at the UMBC Spring Classic last weekend. She went 8-for-16 at the Dukes Invitational with a triple, a home run and four RBI. At the UMBC Spring Classic the previous weekend, she went 9-for-22 with three doubles, two home runs and nine RBI. Barre is hitting a team-best .439 and has a team-best, six-game hitting streak. She has turned in six multiple-hit games as well as three multiple RBI games. Twice she has knocked in four runs in a game. Binghamton (7-4-1) travels to Virginia next week for the Cavalier Classic. |
