The Binghamton softball team has received a national letter of intent from a pair of high school seniors, both of whom will join the Bearcats for the 2003-04 academic year. Sara Eppolito (Manlius, N.Y.) is a third baseman for Fayetteville Manlius High School. Christina Semon (Clarks Summit, Pa.) is both a pitcher and first baseman for Abington Heights High School. In her junior season, Eppolito batted .370 with six doubles, two triples, two home runs and 21 RBI. She led Fayetteville Manlius to the Class A Division 2 league title. "Sara is very solid both offensively and defensively, Binghamton head coach Holly Brown said. We are expecting her to have an immediate impact on our program." Semon batted .400 for Abington Heights as a junior. She won the teams Cy Young award and was a Lackawanna League Division I second-team all-star selection. "Christina is an excellent athlete, Brown said. We feel that with more experience, especially at the Division I level, she will continue to further enhance her natural talents and become a great contributor to our program." |
