Immediate Release: April 23, 2005 Contact: David O'Brian (dobrian@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-6478 Johnson and Case qualify for ECAC/IC4A meet as track & field teams compete at Larry Ellis Invitational PRINCETON, N.J. -- Freshman Dayna Johnson (Brentwood, N.Y.) and senior Neil Case (West Winfield, N.Y.) each qualified for the ECAC/IC4A Championships, highlighting the Binghamton track & field teams' performances at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday. The meet, which was held at Princeton University, did not have team scores. Johnson won the women's triple jump with a distance of 40-1 1/4 feet. She becomes just the second Binghamton women's athlete in history to have jumped at least 40 feet in that event (former All-American Monique Hacker being the other) and nearly reached the NCAA Regional qualifying distance of 40-3. Johnson's distance was also her personal-best by nine inches. Case, meanwhile, placed second in the men's 400 hurdles with a time of 53.33. He then led off the men's 4x400 relay team which placed fourth (53.33). Also on the women's side senior Lindsay Warren (Lansing, N.Y.) was third in the pole vault (10-11 3/4) and sixth in the high jump (5-1). Freshman Keisha Short (Yaphank, N.Y.) was third in the 400 (57.67). For the men, sophomore Rory Quiller (West Point, N.Y.) was second in the pole vault (16-0 3/4) while senior Jared Ketchuck (Endicott, N.Y.) placed third in the hammer (170-2) and was fourth in the shot put (46-5 1/2) Up next is the prestigious Penn Relays, which will be held April 28-30.
