Binghamton indoor track teams split with Albany in first meet at Events Center

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton track and field split a dual meet with visiting Albany Friday night from the Events Center with the women's team defeating the Great Danes, 83-73, and the Albany men scoring a 95-74 win. The meet was the first-ever indoor track and field competition held on campus.

For Binghamton, senior Heather Tassler (Hartsdale, N.Y.) won the 55 dash in a school-record 7.28, and also captured the 200 dash (25.71). Tassler's 55 time broke the school record of 7.30 set in 1997 by 13-time NCAA Division III All-American Monique Hacker. Senior Lindsay Warren (Lansing, N.Y.) was the team's other double winner. She captured the high jump (5-feet-3) and the pole vault (11-3 1/2).

Binghamton went 1-2-3 in the 3,000 and pole vault events.

On the men's side, sophomore Rory Quiller (West Point, N.Y.) was the meet's final competitor, as he cleared 17-3/4 to complete Binghamton's sweep of the first five places in the event. That mark is an NCAA provisional height, though Quiller has gone even higher this season, clearing 17-2 3/4 at the Cornell Invitational in January. Earlier in the meet, Quiller won the 55 hurdles in a time of 7.47 seconds.

Freshman jumper Glen Roche (Stony Point, N.Y.) also was a double winner, capturing the long jump (21-4 3/4) and triple jump (43-10 1/2).

Binghamton next heads to the America East Indoor Track & Field Championship next Friday and Saturday at Boston University.
