Bearcats blank Ithaca 7-0 in season-opener

Binghamton opened its 2001-02 campaign with a convincing 7-0 win over host Ithaca College on September 6. The Bearcats captured all six singles matches, and earned the doubles point with a clean sweep of all three matches.

Senior captain Dmitriy Litvak (Bronx/The Dwight School) posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory at number one singles. Litvak led BU with a 20-9 record last year, and has 49 career singles wins. At second singles, junior Brad Davidoff (Roslyn) dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 triumph. Sophomore Steve Spencer (Plantation, Fla./Nova) also scored a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

In doubles, Davidoff teamed with junior Brad Sherwood (Bronx/Fordham Prep) for an 8-3 pro-set win. Litvak and junior Ryan Rosenthal (Laverock, Pa./Cheltenham) won 8-2 at second doubles.
