Immediate Release: September 17, 2006 Junior Faisal Mohamed (Lynbrook, N.Y.) gave an outstanding performance in the "A" singles flight. Mohamed won all four matches, including a 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Joshua Goldstein of Cornell in the final. After a three-set win in his first match, Mohamed won three matches in straight sets. Freshman Moshe Levy (Ra'ananna, Israel) won the consolation draw in the "A" flight. After dropping his opening match, Levy rebounded to win three straight, including a 6-0, 6-4 win over Ilan Shvartz of Stony Brook and a 4-6, 7-6, 1-0 win over David Jackson of UMBC. In the "B" singles flight, freshman Pierre Clavel (Ampuis, France) went 4-0 to win the title. In the final, Clavel rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Cornell's Jonathan Fife. Mohamed and Clavel also combined to win the "A" doubles crown. The pair won four matches, highlighted by an 8-6 win over the top team from Middlebury. "It was very good weekend," head coach Adam Cohen said. "To go to Cornell and win the "A" and "B" singles flights and the "A" doubles was an accomplishment. The guys did well." |
