Immediate Release: November 13, 2005 Contact: Thomas Moore II (sports@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-2956 Binghamton men's swimming & diving topples New Hampshire; women are defeated Complete Results DURHAM, N.H.--Binghamton University juniors Brian Koizim (White Plains, N.Y.) and David Holmes (Doncaster, England) each won a pair of events as the men's and women's swimming and diving teams split a dual meet with conference rival New Hampshire on Sunday at the Swasey Pool. The men 5-0 overall, 3-0 against conference foes touched first in every event to win 145-54, while the women (1-4) were defeated 141-94. On the men's side Koizim was victorious in the 200 free (1:46.88) and the 500 free (4:57.22) while Holmes touched first in the 200 IM (1:55.72) and 100 back (57.00). Sophomore Kaan Tayla (Ankara Turkey) won the 50 free in 20.89. In the 1000 free sophomore Michael Britvan (Pleasantville, N.Y.) won in 10:28.12. Junior Trevor Stone (Windsor, N.Y.) touch first in the 100 fly (52.88). Freshmen Brenno Varanda (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Brian Koralewski (Floral Park, N.Y.) each won an event for the Bearcats. Varanda in the 100 breast (1:00.82) and Koralewski in the 100 free (50.45). On the women's side freshman Katherine Hassfurter (Horseheads, N.Y.) was the lone winner. Hassfurter won the three-meter board dive with a score of 212.78. Binghamton will head to the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. |
