For
Immediate Release: November 6, 2004 Freshman Kaan Tayla (Ankara, Turkey), sophomore David Holmes (Doncaster, England) and senior Robert Kaczynski (Tychy, Poland) won events and swam legs on the victorious medley relay. After winning his first seven collegiate events this fall, Tayla was defeated in the 200 free, finishing second to UMBC's Jakub Sroczynski. Tayla returned the favor in the 100 free, however, touching first in 46.39, ahead of Sroczynski. Holmes captured the 50 free in 21.57 and was runner-up in the 200 fly. Kaczynski captured the 200 breaststroke in 2:13.82 and was second in the 200 IM. On
the women's side, senior Huijue Cai (Shanghai, China)
placed second in the 50 free, touching in 25.03. Sophomore diver
Shelley Wax (Dix Hills, N.Y.) placed third on the one-meter
board (165.65) and fourth on the three-meter board (149.30).
