Immediate Release: February 14, 2004 Contact: David O'Brian (dobrian@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-6478 Bearcats split dual meet at Stony Brook Complete Results In their final competition of the regular season, the Binghamton swimming & diving teams split a dual meet against Stony Brook on Saturday. The men won 127-111 while the women lost 135-108. The men (4-8) had three double winners on the day. Freshman Brian Koizim (White Plains, N.Y.) won the 500 (4:56.93) and the 1000 (10:27.60), junior Brian Roach (Clifton Park, N.Y.) won both the one- and three-meter diving events with scores of 215.78 and 229.43 respectively and junior Robert Kaczynski (Tychy, Poland) won the 200 IM (1:57.20) and the 200 breast (2:14.01). In addition, senior Chris McGuire (Essex, England) set a school record in the 100 free, despite finishing second in the race. His time of 47.35 seconds eclipses the old mark of 47.50, which was set by Aytac Gurbuz in 2001. For the women's team (4-7), senior Yun Qu (Hangzhou, China) and junior Laura Linek (Canandaigua, N.Y.) each won two events. Qu touched first in the 1000 free (10:57.45) and also captured the 200 fly (2:03.06). Linek won both the 100 and 200 freestyle races with times of 53.88 and 1:56.80 respectively. Binghamton will head to Maine for the America East Conference Championships in two weeks. |
