swimming in remained in ninth place after second day of ECAC
Championship, women improved to 16th place

PITTSBURGH, Pa.-Members of the Binghamton men's and women's swim
teams competed in the second day of competition at the ECAC Championship
on Saturday. The meet is being hosted by the University of Pittsburgh
at Trees Pool. Sunday, the final day of competition will start
at 10 a.m.
On Saturday, the men scored a total of 87 points improving their
score to 159 points and currently stand in ninth place among
23 teams. The Bearcats were led by sophomore David
Holmes (Doncaster, England) who won the 100 fly in 49.36,
breaking the school record of 49.58 which he set last weekend
when he won the event at the America East Championships. Sophomore
Trevor
Stone (Windsor, N.Y.) took fifth place behind Holmes
touching in 50.31.
In the 800 free relay, Binghamton's quartet of freshman Kaan
Tayla (Ankara, Turkey), junior Wade
Rimbach (Essex, England), sophomore Brian
Koizim (White Plains, N.Y.) and Holmes touched in 6:52.44
to break the school record of 6:55.27 and took third place in
the race.
On the women's side, senior Huijue
Cai (Shanghai, China) placed second in the 100 fly (56.76).
The women improved to 16th place in the 26-team field with 31
points.
