Immediate Release: October 17, 2004 Contact: David O'Brian (dobrian@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-6478 Bearcats split dual meet with Boston College Complete Results VESTAL, N.Y.--Freshman Kaan Tayla (Ankara, Turkey), sophomore David Holmes (Doncaster, England) and senior Robert Kaczynski (Tychy, Poland) each won three individual events as the Binghamton swimming and diving teams split their opening dual meet of the season against Boston College on Sunday afternoon at the Patricia A. Saunders Aquatic Center. The men won 173-121 while the women were defeated 228-66. "The men did very well today," head coach Patrice Back said. "They knew it would be a close meet and but their goal was to win and they went out and did it. Even though the women did not win today, there were a lot of personal-best times on their side." Kaan made a successful dayview with wins in the 200 free (1:43.61), 50 free (21.71) and the 500 free (4:55.35). Holmes also made the most of his first meet at Binghamton, winning the 200 fly (1:57.67), 100 free (48.24) and the 100 fly (52.10). Kaczynski triumped in the 100 breast (59.43), 200 breast (2:12.85) and the 200 IM (1:59.44). In addition, winning two events for the men was sophomore Brian Koizim (White Plains, N.Y.), who touched first in the 100 back (54.71) and the 200 back (1:57.80). Senior Huijue Cai (Shanghai, China) was the lone individual winner on the women's side, taking first in the 100 fly (59.12) The Bearcats host America East Conference foe Boston University on Saturday at 1 p.m. |
