Immediate Release: October 29, 2005 Contact: David O'Brian (dobrian@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-6478 Binghamton men's soccer rallies for 1-1 tie at Hartford Box score HARTFORD, Conn.--- Junior forward Joey Neilson (Boothwyn, Pa.) scored his third goal of the season with 21:33 remaining in regulation, leading Binghamton (10-4-3, 3-2-2 AE) to a 1-1 tie at Hartford (5-8-3, 2-3-2 AE) in an America East Conference men's soccer game on Saturday night. The game marked the second straight deadlock for the Bearcats. With 11 points in conference play, the Bearcats clinched their third consecutive trip to the America East Tournament. Depending on how Binghamton does in its final game, the team can finish anywhere from No. 2 to No. 6 in the conference. Munro's goal was assisted by sophomore back Adam Chavez (Endicott, N.Y.). The host Hawks took an early 1-0 lead when Costa Kyritsis converted a penalty kick 13:22 into the game. The kick was set up when the Bearcats were whistled for a handball inside of the box. The Bearcats return home for their regular season finale against Boston at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. |
