Binghamton men's soccer ties Florida International 2-2

MIAMI, Fla.-- Levi Coleman scored the tying goal with 3:56 left in regulaton as host Florida Atlantic (0-2-2) and Binghamton (1-3-2) played to a 2-2 tie in men's soccer action on Friday night at University Park. The contest marked the first of a two-game Florida road trip for the Bearcats.

Coleman's goal came against a Bearcat squad that was nursing a 2-1 advantage despite playing a man down for the final 33 minutes of the second half. He headed in a cross from Sina Ebrahimi to send the game into overtime.

"It was disappointing to allow that goal," head coach Paul Marco said. "But to come down here in the hot weather and play against a good team like this is something that I'm pleased about. We are coming together and are becoming a very good team."

Sophomore back Barry Neville (Mearns Castle, Scotland) and senior forward Peter Seguglia (Schenectady, N.Y.) each coverted penalty kicks. Neville's goal at the 13:41 mark made it 1-0, giving the Bearcats a lead they would take into the half. Sgueglia's blast at 49:57 came just 2:30 after Dadi Kristjansson deadlocked the game at 1-1.

It was Neville, however, who was red carded at the 57:42 mark. That ejection forced the Bearcats to play a man down and Florida Atlantic outshot the Bearcats 9-2 in the second half.

Florida Atlantic outshot Binghamton 19-6 for the game.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Jason Stenta (Binghamton, N.Y.) made four saves, including a pair in the second sudden-death overtime period.

Binghamton concludes its Florida road trip with a 1 p.m. game on Sunday at Florida Atlantic.
