Bearcats
tie Boston 0-0 Box Score VESTAL, N.Y.--The Binghamton men's soccer team (8-2-4, 2-1-2 AE) extended its unbeaten streak to eight games by battling Boston (8-5-2, 3-0-2 AE) in an America East Conference soccer game at West Gym Field on Saturday afternoon. The unbeaten streak marks the Bearcats' longest unbeaten run since going 7-0-1 during an eight-game stretch during the 1998 season. "This is a game that could have gone either way," head coach Paul Marco said. "We had our chances and we would have liked to have won today but we are pleased with how we played. Sophomore goalkeeper Stefan Gonet (Refrewshire, Scotland/Langbank) recorded four saves in posting his 10th shutout of the season. That ties the single-season record set by Adam Napell in 1987. The Bearcats as a team are one shutout away from equaling the school record of 11 shutouts in a season, which was set in 1984 and tied in 1986. For the game, Boston outshot Binghamton 7-6. Binghamton travels to Stony Brook for a 3 p.m. game on Wednesday. |
