Cross country, field hockey, soccer and volleyball student-athletes have been honored for their achievements athletically and academically. The Binghamton men's soccer team had three players honored, the most by any men's soccer team in the America East. Senior back Graham Munro (Invergordon, Scotland), the three-time America East Conference Defensive Player of the Year, senior midfielder Danilo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) a two-time first-team all-conference pick, and sophomore forward Matt Narode (Glenmont, N.Y.), who led Binghamton with seven goals, were the representatives of a squad that was nationally ranked several weeks during the season and advanced to the conference finals for the third consecutive season. Junior Kelly Burnham (Endicott, N.Y.) and sophomore Tricia Reed (Oswego, N.Y.) were selected from the Binghamton women's soccer team. Both players were named second team all-conference as the Bearcats advanced to the conference semifinals. Senior Stacey Kramer (Loudonville, N.Y.) of the women's cross country team was the other Binghamton athlete honored. She placed eighth at the America East Meet on Oct. 29, marking the second consecutive season that she has been named all-conference. Each All-Academic Team has been selected based on the student-athletes academic and athletic accomplishments. Academic achievement for consideration requires student-athletes to have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 entering the season. Athletic accomplishment standards vary between team sports and individual sports. For team sports, student-athletes are required to be a nomination on the post-season awards ballot, which is determined by the leagues head coaches. For individual sports, student-athletes are required to be a medalist at the conference championship meet. Team size for team sports is based on the number of athletes that participate in a contest at one time (e.g., 11 on the field for soccer). In the event that the number of student-athletes meeting the requirements is greater than the number that participate in a contest at one time, all-conference vote totals were used as the tie-breaking criteria. Team size for individual sports is determined by the number of all-conference honorees who possess the minimum academic requirement. |
