Wioncek (Beverly, Mass) continues to make his mark in just his first season on the college level. In the latest NCAA statistics, which include games through April 23, he is ranked 16th overall in faceoff winning percentage (.572) and is tied for 15th with 5.03 ground balls per game. Wioncek is the top-ranked freshman in both categories. Since the statistics have come out, Wioncek has turned in another impressive performance, winning 15 of 21 faceoffs and recording 11 ground balls in the Bearcats' 12-6 win over Drexel on Tuesday. "There is no question that at this point of the season J.P. has made as much of an impact as anyone on our team," head coach Ed Stephenson said. "It is amazing where he is as a freshman. He has kept us in the close games and against Drexel, he was a big reason we were able to pull away late in the game." Wioncek is a 2005 graduate of Beverly High School. Binghamton (7-6, 2-2 AE) heads to Albany on Saturday at 7 p.m. for its final regular-season game. |
