Immediate Release: March 16, 2006 FRESNO, Calif. - Miami (Ohio) scored runs in each of the first three innings and cruised to a 9-1 victory over Binghamton (2-4-1) Thursday night at the Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic. The Bobcats held only an 11-9 margin in hits but combined timely plate production with four BU errors in the field. Miami scored twice in the top of the first to get the ball rolling. Binghamton scored its lone run in the second inning on an RBI single by freshman third baseman Kyle Klee (Rochester, N.Y.). Junior catcher Pat Haughie (St. James, N.Y.) went 3-for-4 to pace the Bearcats, who were solid in the bottom half of the lineup but went a collective 2-for-15 with six strikeouts in the top four spots. Senior Jarrod Rampey (Rochester, N.Y.) absorbed the loss after pitching five innings. He struck out four and walked none, and surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. Binghamton continues the tournament with a game against Washington State at 4 p.m. on Friday. |
