Binghamton falls to LeMoyne 5-4

SYRACUSE,
N.Y. - Senior designated hitter Brett Woodcock had two hits to
lift Le Moyne past Binghamton 5-4 in a non-conference baseball
game at Dick Rockwell Field. The Dolphins improve to 25-11 overall,
while the Bearcats fall to 14-29.
Nine different pitchers shared one inning each for the Dolphins.
Le Moyne sophomore right-hander Nick Marascia did not allow a
run in the third inning and was credited with his first college
win. Marascia struck out one, walked one and allowed one hit.
Binghamton jumped out on top 2-0 with a pair of unearned runs
in the top of the second, but Le Moyne junior Scott Edwardsen
pulled the Dolphins back within a run in the bottom of the inning
with his first home run of the season.
Le Moyne plated two runs in the bottom of the third off Binghamton
starter Tom Gaube to take the lead for good. Sophomore shortstop
Anthony Aquilino and Woodcock registered back-to-back doubles
to tie the contest at 3-3. Junior Mike Pecchia singled home Woodcock
to put Le Moyne up 4-3.
Junior Tony Berube had two of Binghamton's six hits. Berube doubled
and scored in the eighth to make it a 5-4 game.
Junior closer Andy Weimer pitched a perfect ninth for his sixth
save of the season. |
