VESTAL, N.Y. -- The Binghamton softball team concluded its inaugural season in the America East Conference
with four players being named all-conference. Sophomore catcher Jessica Chellis (Tunkhannock, Pa./ Tunkhannock)
and senior designated hitter Margaret Yerdon (Lacona, N.Y./ Sandy Creek) were named to the first team,
while junior third baseman Jen Richardson (Wellsville, N.Y./ Wellsville) and sophomore outfielder Leigh Ann Savidge
(Binghamton, N.Y./ Seton Catholic) were named to the second team.
Chellis led Binghamton with a .318 batting average, a school-record six home runs and 29 RBI. She turned in 13 multiple-hit games, including three three-hit performances. Chellis also recorded nine multiple-RBI games including a season-high four against Albany on April 7. Yerdon, who was named the America East Pitcher of the Week on April 8, batted .295, which was the second-highest average on the team. She had 10 multiple-hit games, including three three-hit efforts. On the mound, Yerdon had a team-leading 154.2 innings with 122 strikeouts. She finished 8-13 with a 2.04 ERA. She ends her career at Binghamton as the program’s all-time leader in ERA (1.40) and strikeouts (431). Richardson’s .268 batting average was the fourth-highest mark on the team. She also ranked second with three home runs and 17 RBI. Richardson had seven multiple-hit games with a season-high four hits against Maine on May 5. Twice this season, she had three RBI in a game. Savidge batted .254 with six stolen bases and nine RBI. She also tied for the team lead with two triples. | ||||
