Binghamton University has hired former Marist College captain and standout
Amanda Koldjeski as its full-time softball assistant, the school announced
today. Koldjeski joins seventh-year head coach Holly Brown’s staff as BU
prepares for their inaugural season in the Division I America East in 2002.
A native of Clarks Summit, Pa., Koldjeski led Marist to 25 wins and a
first-ever Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title game appearance this
past spring. She led the team in runs, home runs, RBI and slugging
percentage, and was named first-team all-conference. Koldjeski ranked
seventh in the nation in home runs (15 in 49 games) and was 15th in RBI
(46). She also shined in a twinbill sweep of Binghamton in late March,
going 4-for-6 with two home runs and five RBI.
Koldjeski graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in history, and ranked
among the top 10% of her class. She was named to the Verizon Academic
All-District I team, and was a three-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection.
In high school at Abington Heights, she was named Northeastern Pennsylvania
Player of the Year in 1996. She has returned home during the past two
summers to coordinate a youth work and education program for
underprivileded teenaged children in Lackawanna County. Koldjeski holds a
New York State Coaching Certification, and is also a certified American
Softball Association (ASA) umpire. In addition, she has worked various
camps and clinics at Marist and in the Scranton area.
