Sports information office wins five national awards for publications

Binghamton's sports information office has earned five citations for excellence in publications during the 2000-01 year. The publications program is administered by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and selections are made by a national panel of public relations, design and layout professionals. Binghamton's 24-page golf media guide and 24-page cross country media guides were both awarded "Best in the Nation" status. The 104-page women's basketball guide and the 32-page wrestling guide were selected "Second in the Nation." The guides were written, edited and designed by sports information director John Hartrick and assistant sports information director David O'Brian. In addition, the cross country cover, designed by Bill Carney of Creative Printing in Endwell, was tabbed "Best Cover" in the nation.

In the past two years, BU media guides have won 11 national citations for excellence.
