Tracy Kasmarcik Binghamton University women’s soccer player Tracy Kasmarcik (Binghamton, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) has been named to the Northeast Region second team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the school learned Monday. Eleven players were chosen for each of the first, second and third teams. The Northeast Region spans 41 schools from seven states (N.Y., Conn., Maine, Mass., N.H., R.I., Vt.).

Kasmarcik, a sophomore forward, scored a team-high 15 goals with seven assists in 2001, steering the Bearcats to a 12-5-2 record and post-season appearance in their first season of Division I. She scored three game-winning goals, and registered four or more points in five different games. During BU’s 10-game unbeaten streak to end the regular season, Kasmarcik netted nine goals with six assists. She capped her outstanding season with a goal and an assist in Binghamton’s 4-3 defeat to top-seeded Georgetown in the ECAC semifinals. Her scoring output ranked 12th in the nation for both goals per game and points per game.

“It’s a tremendous honor for Tracy,” head coach Jeff Leightman said. “She had a wonderful year and it’s definitely well-deserved. We would not have achieved the level of success without Tracy’s excellence on the field.”

In two seasons, Kasmarcik has 27 goals and 11 assists, and currently ranks sixth in all-time points with 65. Her two-year goals total already ranks fifth all-time at Binghamton.

Led by Kasmarcik, the Bearcats outscored opponents 55-30 in 2001. That team scoring production (2.9 goals per game) ranks fifth in the nation (goals per game) out of 281 teams.

The entire 33-member NSCAA Northeast Region Team, along with Kasmarcik’s game-by-game statistics, and Binghamton’s final 2001 statistics are enclosed.
