Immediate Release: September 14, 2005 VESTAL, N.Y. - The athletics department is holding its 10th annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Friday, October 21, in the West Gym atrium. This year's four inductees are former athletes Robert Negron 72 (baseball), Kim Jacoby 88 (softball, basketball, volleyball, soccer), Matt Feinberg 97 (swimming) and Monique Hacker 00 (track & field). Negron, an infielder, outfielder and catcher, batted .403 in his stellar four-year career and remains the only player in school history to hit over .400 for his collegiate career. Jacoby was a four-sport athlete who achieved her greatest success on the softball diamond. She was a two-time Bingamton Athlete of the Year and first team all-star who still holds program records for runs batted in and slugging percentage. Feinberg was a five-time All-American and seven-time conference champion in the pool. He was national runner-up in the 1,650 freestyle in 1996, and was twice named the schools Athlete of the Year. Hacker is the Universitys most decorated athlete in any sport. She accumulated five NCAA triple jump championships and was honored as an All-American a remarkable 14 times at the Division III and II levels. The Binghamton University Athletic Hall of
Fame was established in 1996 to honor those individuals who have
distinguished themselves and the University through the intercollegiate
athletics program. Its purpose is to perpetuate the memory of
those individuals who have brought distinction, honor and excellence
to Binghamton University athletics. |
