10th Annual Athletics Hall of Fame Ceremony set for Homecoming Weekend
Robert Negron '72, Kim Jacoby '88, Matt Feinberg '97 and Monique Hacker '00 will be honored

VESTAL, N.Y. - The athletics department is holding its 10th annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Friday, October 21, in the West Gym atrium. This year's four inductees are former athletes Robert Negron ‘72 (baseball), Kim Jacoby ‘88 (softball, basketball, volleyball, soccer), Matt Feinberg ‘97 (swimming) and Monique Hacker ‘00 (track & field).

Negron, an infielder, outfielder and catcher, batted .403 in his stellar four-year career and remains the only player in school history to hit over .400 for his collegiate career.

Jacoby was a four-sport athlete who achieved her greatest success on the softball diamond. She was a two-time Bingamton Athlete of the Year and first team all-star who still holds program records for runs batted in and slugging percentage.

Feinberg was a five-time All-American and seven-time conference champion in the pool. He was national runner-up in the 1,650 freestyle in 1996, and was twice named the school’s Athlete of the Year.

Hacker is the University’s most decorated athlete in any sport. She accumulated five NCAA triple jump championships and was honored as an All-American a remarkable 14 times at the Division III and II levels.

The Binghamton University Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1996 to honor those individuals who have distinguished themselves and the University through the intercollegiate athletics program. Its purpose is to perpetuate the memory of those individuals who have brought distinction, honor and excellence to Binghamton University athletics.

This year’s class will bring the total number number of members to 55. The accomplishments of each inductee are detailed on the “Wall of Fame” — a lighted display in the West Gym foyer that features engraved walnut plaques mounted on a brick surface.

Anyone can nominate an individual for the Athletic Hall of Fame. Nominations are accepted prior to April 1, with the screening committee convening shortly thereafter.

Any athlete is eligible five years after graduation or five years after that individual’s class graduated. Coaches and staff members must have served for a minimum of five years.

Other individuals who have aided the advancement of the University’s intercollegiate athletics program can also be nominated.
