Fuchs Binghamton University golfer Adam Fuchs (Plainview, N.Y./JFK-Plainview) has received a pair of honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America, the school learned today. At the National Awards Dinner in Columbus, Ohio, Thursday night, Fuchs was announced as both an all-region honoree and a member of the Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar Team.

Fuchs, who led BU with a 74.2 scoring average in 2001-02, was one of 15 golfers recognized on the PING New England All-Region Team. In his junior season, he was the America East champion, and led the Bearcats to a pair of tournament titles, a 143-22 overall record, and a top-six ranking in the region. Fuchs, Binghamton’s three-time team MVP, played in 11 tournaments during the year, and finished in the top-10 in 10 of them. Twice he earned medalist honors, and he placed third at both the ECAC Championship and the prestigious Rhode Island Invitational.

In addition to the golfing honor, Fuchs was one of 86 student-athletes nationally who were selected as Scholar All-Americans. A management major with a 3.37 grade-point average, Fuchs was one of just two golfers from the New England region to earn both golf and academic honors, joining the top player from Yale University. To be considered, individuals had to maintain both a minimum GPA of 3.2 and a scoring average under 76.

In three seasons, Fuchs has won seven tournaments and owns a 74.6 career scoring average. He earned national acclaim last summer by advancing to the semifinals of the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship — two wins away from qualifying for The Masters.
